DISCUSSION ON LAND DISPUTES BETWEEN TOWNS: WHAT ARE THE BEST SOLUTIONS? Please, be part of this interaction

WE ARE LEGENDS THAT PROMOTES THE TRENDS OF PEACEMAKERS!
I welcome you specially to this interactive session where all of us are expected to make contributions, unveil our opinions, express our grievances, bring up ideas, and lastly proffer solutions to issues concerning land disputes between two communities, persons, and/or groups.
I know some people maybe, might be afraid to come on air with the circumstances as a result of the ongoing land dispute between Abagana people of Njikoka L.G.A. and Ukpo people of Dunukofia L.G.A. both in Anambra State of Nigeria. Mind you, Ukpo is the Home Town of icons like Engineer Prince Arthur Eze, the CEO of Oranto Oil and Gas; The amiable husband of Professor Mrs. Stella Okunna [Head of Department, Mass Communication, UNIZIK]; so many others. Coming to Abagana, we have personalities like Emmanuel Nwude [Owelle Abagana: The Director of EM Petroleum]; Chief Dennis Okafor [Ojinkeyaeme]; Honorable Mr. Ifeanyi Aniagor [SSA to Anambra State Governor on Media], and host of others.

I won’t start mentioning their names because this is not shoutout session, or time to start recognizing dignitaries. WHAT WE RECOGNIZE HERE ARE CANDID OPINIONS, IDEAS, SOLUTIONS, AND ANYTHING THAT CAN COMMAND PEACE AND HARMONY.

I am the anchor for this interactive session, I go by the pseudonym The Inspirational Parrot, there is no need telling you where I’m from, I deem it better to tell you where my father and mother are from apiece.

Talking about the nativity of my father and mother won’t risk their lives because both of them are Late already. That’s by the way. My Late Father, Late Chief P.N. Asiegbu [OZONWAYO] is from Abagana Town while my doting Late mom, Late Mrs. Monica Asiegbu is from Ukpo Community. I have being both at Abagana and Ukpo. I’m not fully siding any of the town in this interaction. I’m here to anchor the discussion and to make sure the major aims of putting up this update on this platform are achieved satisfactorily.

This discussion is not only with respect to the land dispute between Abagana and Ukpo alone, but also as it concerns your own towns, families, and even your own very self. And we didn’t put up this update here on altar of getting favours of any kind from anyone. We put it up to get ideas from our youths and proffer suitable solutions to the matter.

Briefly, from a shallow depth of my knowledge about the land dispute between Abagana and Ukpo, the case initially were been judged in the Court of Law; then there were patience and even silence among the inhabitants of these towns. But violence didn’t even sneak in, but banged in when Court had made a declaration [I don’t think the word “resolution” is the right one to use], giving one of the town a certificate of ownership over the land. Now, not just threats are been observed, also life (or lives) had been taken, lots of properties have been destroyed, JUST BECAUSE OF A LAND THAT WOULD TARRY WHILE EACH OF US EMBARKS ON ETERNAL VOYAGE (WHEN TIME IS DUE). There is no need to start listing out the categories of unforseen circumstances the dispute had caused lately.

Now, to make it brief so that the discussion will begin, when there was PATIENCE, and even SILENCE, there were no threats to human lives, no demolition of structures/houses, people moved about during the day and at night freely in and around the towns. Now, should MORE or GREATER VIOLENCE be the better/best way to handle this dispute?

That is the question you should ask yourself before unleashing your candid opinions, before expressing your anger, agitation, and grievances; make sure you have a few seconds of reflection before commenting else your views may be characterized by sentiments.

WHICH ONE IS/ARE THE BEST PANACEA FOR VIOLENCE: PATIENCE, SILENCE, OR GREATER VIOLENCE, OR MAYBE THAT OPINION OF YOURS?

Let the discussion/interaction start. Please, remember that it’s an interactive session, not an argument, not a word battle, nor a criticizing arena. Do endeavour to coordinate and control your ill manners. Don’t mention names, keep your personal grief with you. Sound polite and innocuous.
