Things are hard, this is a hard time
People are sad, sadness is at its prime

The rich are now those who have dime.

We sleep by night, but only to wake up by midnight,
I can hear echos in my stomach, could this be because of its emptiness?

My sleep couldn’t keep to its lane, jumping from one side of my mattress to another,
I lay on my back and later on my stomach,
I rolled to the left and rolled to the right, until I hit the wall,
Now am awake, what’s happening to me?

“It’s hunger the man of the moment,

Desperately searching for who to torment.”

I aggressively stood up “no wonder they say a hungry man is an angry man”.
I walked to the kitchen,

And checked the sack that should contain my food stuffs,

but only to find other empty sacks inside.

After some minutes of sitting down in despair,

I heard rough sound of sacks and hisses coming from my neighbour’s room, hmmmmm,
“It is hunger the man of the moment,

Desperately searching for who to torment.”

Even rats are strategizing on how to leave my room,

But as one is leaving another one is coming in,

No wonder they say seeing is believing,

“who no know go know”.

And Mosquitoes now gossip about how sweet-less my blood is because of lack of sugar.

If Jesus Christ was to feed the Five thousand again,

I wouldn’t miss out, and the remaining twelve baskets will be taken home by me.
In this recession period, oga, be ready for the man of the moment

Will come, desperately searching for who to torment.

“Even though we live in the 21st century,

We are still all like slaves,

There’s only one difference though,

And it’s that we don’t have chains”.
