“BEWARE OF THE THORNS,
SO THAT YOU CAN BEAR FRUIT”

“The seeds that fell among thorn bushes
stand for those who hear the message, but the worries about this life and the
love for riches choke the message, and they don’t fruit.”

 [Matthew 13:22]

The
good seed is exposed to a lot of dangers; one of such dangers is the ‘thorn’. The thorns will choke it and make it impossible for the seed to grow well and
yield fruit.

The
expectation of every farmer who sows seed is that the seed will grow and bear
fruits. This expectation is dashed if the seed grows among thorns; for the thorns
will choke and destroy the seed before it gets to the stage of bearing fruit.

The
believer’s heart is the soil while the Word is the good seed. The thorns
represent the cares of this world. These include the legitimate pursuits of
life, the deceitfulness of riches and the lust of other things. These cares are
capable of choking the Word, thereby making it unfruitful.

What
are the thorns you can presently identify in your life? It is your duty to
guard your heart/life from the harmful effects of these cares. Be watchful

I

the thorns in your life?”; “Have you noticed any thorns in your life?”; “What
are you doing presently to get rid of any thorns in your life?”

am human, I must be sincere with you; in as much as I am working hard in life
to make riches; I don’t let my spiritual life to be compromised.

I
still believed that God is still the Being Who will decide what will be and
what will not be in my life. I am the one to PLAN, but it is God Who will

There
are so many thorns in life of Christians so long as they are living in this same
world I have also found myself.

You
are also human being, and you also have interest in making riches and other
cares of this life; but you should not let these cares (thorns) to hinder the
passageway for the Word of God into your psyche.

We
are advised to seek first the Kingdom of God, and all other things (necessary
ones) will be added unto us.

Seeking
the Kingdom of God does not warrant you to be at home reading only the Word of
God, doing nothing to earn money.

No,
it’s not like that; you should be going about your daily activities, you should
be pursuing wealth; but you should not let your interest in making wealth to
choke the good seed that God through His Word wants to sow in you.

Today,
in the Word of God which we read, we are been admonished to be wary of the
thorns which include the cares of this life.

We
can only bear fruits when the seeds of fruitfulness (success, happiness, and
greatness) God is sowing in lives individually are not choked by the thorns.

Go
now and find out the thorns that are choking the seeds of fruitfulness sown in
your life. I pray that God should give you the insights and Grace to discover
and eliminate any thorns choking good seeds sown in your life, Amen!
