Disappointed: “Why Is Government Wasting So Much Time To Catch Me Young?” #HearMeNaija –Chinonso Emmanuel Asiegbu

I
am getting old already, yet they at the top still refer us as the leaders of
tomorrow whereas we writhe in sorrows of poor governance.

When
will government set up a ministry, when I mean a ministry, I mean an efficient
one whose affairs must be piloted by those who know what it takes to build
youths in a nation.
The
ministry I am talking about will be saddled with the responsibility of
accessing and assessing young people with great values and talents in them.
This
ministry will be able to give the youths the room to manifest their
talents in the right ways without fear or favour. They should be monitored
frequently to ascertain that they are really carrying out their
responsibilities.
Sometimes
I ask myself: what is it that I cannot do in the Government? I have good ideas
even more than most people occupying prominent positions in government.
I
am not trying to brag; but if we should be honest to ourselves, we are going to
accede to the fact that most youths are better than lots of people occupying
top positions in both Federal and State Governments in Nigeria. No need
mentioning names or portfolios.
I
can work even in the ministry of education: there are many things to do so as
to make academics entertaining which are not being practiced currently. Don’t
expect me to start writing them out in this piece.
There
are many young people like myself in the society with wonderful values and
qualities, but these abilities keep deteriorating and fading away due to the
lackadaisical attitudes of the government towards the youths.
I
got admitted into the same university with some group of students, but as time
went on, each student began to portray one kind of ability or the other.
Some
tread the path of politics while on campus; some venture into unleashing their
spiritual gifts; some went into entertainment industry. Some went for entrepreneurship,
and some went for media/publicity, among others, their individaul course of
study notwithstanding.
Now,
the question is “what is the fate of each of these students on
graduation?”
It’s
good that we must not wait on government to unleash our endowments, but we
really need them to provide enabling environment favourable for unleashing of
these endowments.
Those
in power should stop making the youths timid to speak out, they (the youths)
should not be dying in agony of a government that doesn’t care about the
conditions of the youths.
I
am using this medium to remind the government that they are wasting so much
time to catch me young; I am now getting older.
Someone
who has lived more than two decades and half on the face of the earth is no
more a kid. I think people don’t know the reason why this platform is established
by NDJP: he aims at using this platform to reach out to the world, to pass
appropriate information to the world, to interact with the people out there, to
change lives through media and publicity, inter alia.
There
are many places in government where I can fit into and be able to make good and
efficient utilization of my abilities.
The
youths are those who make up or occupy the core of every nation. Anyway,
whether the government plays the right roles in making the society favorable
for the growth and development of the youths or not, nothing would encumber me
from achieving my goals.
I
hope to see every Nigerian youth working assiduously to unleash his/her
potentials irrespective of what the Government is doing or not.
They
may assume us to be lazy; but it is left to each of us (the youths of Nigeria)
to prove beyond every reasonable doubt that we are not lazy.
We
cannot stay at home lamenting and writhing in sorrows; only if we can make good
use of the internet media in voicing out our problems, and doing so
innocuously, the Government will be compelled to dance to the tune of the
youths.
Till
Nigerian Government starts creating measures to see the youths excelling, I
will continue urging the youths to get themselves involved into something
meaningful and try to make good impacts on others.
GOVERNMENT
SHOULD STOP WASTING TOO MUCH TIME IN CATCHING ME YOUNG; AND ALSO OTHER YOUNG
TALENTED YOUTHS IN THE COUNTRY.
Feel free to join me in this clamour for the youths to be giving utmost priority in Nigeria. Feel free to make use the hashtag: #HearMeNaija.
Asiegbu,
Chinonso Emmanuel.
