Of Life Challenges” –By Warazi Onyelobi
It is like the widow’s tears,
it’s like an orphan’s cry
It is like a slave’s chains,
it’s like a beggar’s sigh
It feels like a broken bone, it
feels like a crushed toe
It feels like an aching belly,
it feels like an emptiness no words know
It looks like a broken wind; it
looks like a blinded light
It looks like freezing flames;
it looks like a ghost bite
It sounds like an exploding
heart, it sounds like a cracking skull
It sounds like wounded God, it
sounds like an empty hall
It tastes like a bleeding tongue;
it tastes like a soured pride
It tastes like boiling water;
it tastes like a barren bride
It makes you hate the breath
that you take
And you will wish to sleep and
forbid not to wake.

How I wished the poet had
written more in this poem; it is too short to be satisfying, but the few words
he has used to express his feelings about love are pleasing and true. Whatever
gave him the insight/inspirational to pen down this poem is extraordinary.
