The fish was caught by a fisherman in Lagos Lagoon, and residents in Isale Eko area of Lagos have been shocked to see the strange creature.

The fish was identified to be a Guitarfish and people got bewildered as the local fishermen that caught it displayed it for public view before butchering it.

As narrated by local fishermen, they went out fishing in the morning casting their net in the lagoon, then they felt a rush in the net, and then they pulled it out hoping to see a regular fish but saw a strangely looking creature.

They stabbed it severally, and it took the fish 20 minutes to die properly. Some people said it was a sting ray but a sting ray won’t be able to survive in a lagoon. The fish was measured the length of 5.5 feet and a wing span of 3 feet.

According to explanation, the guitarfish species are known for an elongated body with a flattened head and trunk and small, ray-like wings.

The combined range of the various species is tropical, subtropical, and warm temperate waters worldwide.
