“Only If Election Could Be Rigged For The Right Person To Be In Power” Written By Chinonso Emmanuel Asiegbu: I have innocuously unveiled my opinions on matters pertaining to Nigerian politics.

When people talk about rigging election, I do think of it in a different perception which I am going to write about in this article.

Let me start this way; it baffles me when I see youths who have apathy when it comes to politics. There is nothing bad in you as a youth taking part in
politics despite the nasty part of it.

My problem is not that election is been rigged, but that it is been done to pave ways for the wrong persons to get into power and take hold of the power and misuse it.

I have been wondering if it would be possible for election to be rigged for the right persons to emerge the winners. Can that be possible? I doubt if that can ever happen.

Those who may be the right people lack interest in politics, I mean most of them; even the few of them who have interest in politics may not buy the idea of rigging election for them to be into power.

Our society is messed up and the electorates have deviated from what is their right to accepting what they should deem wrong.

The truth is that rigging an election is risky, not an easy task, and it demands lots of things (both good and bad). Not everybody would accept that election be rigged for him/her so as to get into power.

I am not supporting/encouraging rigging of election in any means; but I am only trying to say if election can no longer hold without any forms of malpractices; then let us buy the idea of rigging election so as that the right person should be in power.

Can rigging be put to good use? Nobody (I think) would feel bad when a good leader has gotten into power, though through rigging. Please, I am only trying to be logical, and I am not inferring that election should be rigged so that the right people will be in power.

Another question I am asking myself is who is the right person? They would appear to be the right people during their campaigns; but once they have got into power, the beat will change immediately in their own favour, while the electorates would be suffering.

Nigerians, let us say no to rigging of election; go now and get your PVC (Permanent Voter’s Card); it is your right to exercise your franchise, and do not sell your votes.

My dear Igbo brothers and sisters, let us make sure that we make our votes count this time around. Let us decide with our votes so that tomorrow we will know that it is our decision.

Do not be deceived by anyone, we should vet each candidate and know what he/she is capable of doing when he/she gets into power.

Will the person empower us afterwards if we empower him/her with our votes to get into power? This is a question we should be asking ourselves whenever they come to seek our supports.

Once again, go out there and get your PVC and wait for the right time to come so that you can make good use of it. Your PVC is a determining factor to who becomes the leader tomorrow.
