250 Women Purchase PDP’s Expression Of Interest Forms For 2023 General Elections
250 Women Purchase PDP’s Expression Of Interest Forms For 2023 General Elections: A total of 250 female candidates have acquired Expressions of Interest forms from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 general elections.
Ms Effah-Attoe, the party’s national women’s leader, revealed this on Monday at a meeting with several hopefuls at the party’s Wadata Plaza national headquarters.
She urged the ladies to focus on winning elections rather than simply participating in them. The PDP women’s leader further stated that her office was already working with party officials and stakeholders to ensure that the party’s candidates included a significant percentage of female candidates.
Ms Effah-Attoe advised aspirants to be well-prepared for the primary elections so that the party would not be blamed later.
“Some of us don’t even relate with our wards, not to talk about our local government chapters, and when the bell rings to buy the forms, we just run and pick the forms,” the PDP chieftain pointed out. “Politics is not practiced that way; you have to prepare yourself, especially for the primary.”
The national women leader said the meeting was to strategise how more women would merge as candidates at the primary elections.
“I desire to leave no stone unturned to ensure that our women participate meaningfully and win elections. We have always thought about women coming out to participate,” she further explained. “We have been doing that over the years we have been participating, but the issue now is coming out to win elections. This kind of meeting is unprecedented.”

It is commendable that more women are getting involved in politics. Hopefully, they are given the same support and opportunity that men enjoy.
