How Gunmen Killed APC Chieftain In Bayelsa: Hon. Sunday Frank-Oputu, a senior member of the All Progressives Congress in Bayelsa State, was assassinated on Tuesday night at his Bay-Bridge property in Yenezue-gene, Yenagoa, by unknown assailants.
Oputu, who is a strong supporter of a suit in a Bayelsa State High Court challenging the legality of the All Progressives Congress (APC) recently held ward, local government, and state congresses, was reportedly killed by men who scaled his home’s fence and shot sporadically at his window, killing him.
SP Asinim Butswat, the state police command’s spokeswoman, confirmed the event to reporters, saying the deceased was rushed to Federal Medical Center, Yenagoa, where physicians confirmed his death. He went on to say that the body had been taken to the mortuary for an autopsy.
Butswat went on to say that the state’s police commissioner, CP Ben Nebolisa Okolo, has ordered officers to step up their efforts to locate and apprehend the culprits. He also assures the public that the Command is committed to ensuring that the perpetrators are apprehended and brought to justice.
